Problem:
On HP Chromebook Plus, Logitech M575 unifying USB-A dongle not detected in USB-A port.
- It does work if I use a USB-A to USB-C adapter to plug into either USB-C port.
- The USB-A dongle works on other computers.
- A USB-A flash drive does work in the USB-A port and I can copy files to and from it.
- If the mouse is off when I plug in the USB-A dongle, then turn the mouse on, the white light keeps flashing, like the mouse cannot see the dongle.
- If the mouse is on when I plug in the USB-A dongle, with the white light starts out flashing because it is not connect, then the while light goes solid, like it has a connection, but it does not affect the mouse pointer on the screen.
- The mouse works with Bluetooth.
- I tried the USB-A dongle both with the without the M575 listed in the Bluetooth previous connections, and the white light functions as above.
- I tried the USB-A dongle both with and without the computer's Bluetooth on, and the while light functions as above.
- Plugging in a phone to the USB-A or USB-C port will both charge the phone and both devices acknowledge being connected.
- I tried some very short adapters to get the dongle about 2 inches away.
- I did not have a USB 2.0 cord or adapter in the chain.
- The Linux Dev Environment command line lsusb does not help because any HID are intercepted by Chrome OS, first.
- Did not try a Google Play Store USB enumerator app because Chrome OS should intercept the HID device first.
Fixed:
- Did a normal Chrome OS restart with the dongle plugged into the USB-A port.
- This has kept working through removing and reinserting the USB-A dongle.
- Have not yet tried after a sleep.
- Have not yet tried after a restart without the USB-A dongle plugged in.
- ChromeOS System Log with it working:
- In Chrome, go to chromeos://system
- Expand "lsusb"
- In Chrome, go to chromeos://system
